Stand: You have chosen to receive no additional cards.
Hit: You will be dealt more cards, one at a time, until you choose to stand or you go bust.
Split pairs: If you have two cards of the same denomination, you can choose to split them an play two separate hands. This requires an additional bet equal to the original bet you made. Two 10-value cards (J, Q, K) also count as a pair and may be split.
Double down: If you feel that the first two cards you have been dealt promise to be a winning hand, you can wager any additional amount up to your original bet and then receive one more card.
Take insurance: When you face-up card is an ace, you may take a side bet on whether the dealer has a blackjack (a 10-value card in the hole). This means you may bet up to one half of your original bet on whether the dealer will make 21 and thereby win. Should the dealer win, you lose your original bet although you win your insurance bet. If the dealer does not have a 10-value card in the hole, you lose your insurance be but continue to play with original bet.
Surrender: Once you've seen your cards and the dealer's face-up card, you can throw in your hand before drawing any more cards and surrender only half your bet.
